Title: “An Eye for a Heart”

You danced on my head like a session of ballet

Split my heart and thighs, had at me like I was gourmet

Left me hanging—parlayed me into another cliché

Diced up my head, made me insane, just to go hang it up on display

Calling it art—

As like a lab rat, you treated my heart.

Slow poison—

Piece by piece, you took it apart.

Should have known it was a game,

Playing knock knock, who's there?

And I carelessly let you in like a host through a foyer.

Burnt up a fuse… then ran wintry—

There was no more fire.

Soulless I had become,

Like a devil’s spawn.

I had to do you the honors of an IOU—

And well, like a chess game,

You later became my pawn.

Had you by the groins—

You kicked, you screamed, "What are you doing?"

I whispered like winter wind in your ear, "Returning the favor."

Took my time like a sous chef with revenge on the menu,

And like a paranoid scientist,

Every scream was data—every tear, a breakthrough.

Then I framed the wreckage—signed it: “This too, is art.”
